Happy New Year!

It’s still January, so I can say that…right? And the Chinese New Year celebration began just about a week ago, so Happy New Year!

Welcome! Please take a moment to read the “Why ‘Not Just Waiting’?” tab to find out more about me and the purpose for this blog.

This is a time we all tend to think about new beginnings. We make resolutions. We think, plan, and dream about the future. For me, this blog is part of those thoughts, plans, and dreams.

I turned 30 this past year. Though I don’t really feel any different than last year, or the year before, I’d like for this year’s activities to embody some of the epic “milestoneness” generally equated with this age. (I’ll start by making up the word “Milestoneness.” Thank you, thank you.) Simply put, I want to have a great year!

This is also a time of transition, the beginning of something new. For the past year and a half, I have been studying machine shorthand in an online court reporting school. In December, I had to leave the school which has left me slightly frustrated and wondering what to do. In the month since then, I have realized just how much I have learned from this experience. (More on that in future posts!) On the same day I found out I would have to leave school, I got an email from a friend and former coworker. It said, “When you lose something, or when something is taken away from you, God is opening your hands so He can give you something better.”

My hands are open, and I am waiting with great excitement to see how He fills them!

This verse encouraged me today, and I hope it will be a blessing to you also!

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13 (NIV)
